UX audits & research
Clear diagnosis grounded in user research and usability principles.
Get clarity & a solid baseline
Whether you’re about to invest in a redesign and want to know what’s broken before you spend the budget, or you know you need to make things better but aren’t sure where to start, this is it. This is where you start.
If you want to rely on evidence, as opposed to a hunch or opinions, you need a clear diagnosis that you can act on.
Guessing can feel efficient. It can also mean you fix the wrong thing, blow the budget on a redesign or develop fancy new features that no-one really asked for or uses.
When decisions get made on opinion instead of evidence, it’s easy to end up running down the wrong rabbit hole.
A good audit (or Heuristic evaluation if we’re being official), gives you something solid to work from and a plan to move forwards.

What you can expect if we work together
Who’s it for?
For enterprise, government and nonprofit organisations who need evidence before they invest.
Get an evidence-based diagnosis of what’s blocking a better experience, based on 15+ years of hard-earned knowledge and user insights. No need to rely on assumptions, internal opinions or whatever the last agency pitched you.
In short, we’ll carry out a fundamental UX audit, or a deeper dive in the form of a research and recommendations phase. This involves:
- Reviewing your site or product against usability and accessibility best practice
- Digging into analytics and user behaviour to see where things are breaking down
- Talking to real users (if research is part of the scope)
- Collating a clear, prioritised findings report that you can act on
I believe in conversation over presentation, so I won’t deliver a 60-page deck that sits in a drawer. You’ll get a working report that supports action over indecision.
Every project starts with a conversation
No charge and no obligation. Following that, there’s usually two ways to get started.
A structured expert review of your existing website or product, measured against established usability principles and informed by 15+ years of experience.
I’ll show you where the friction is, why it matters, and what to fix first, in a written report you can share with your team. Once you’ve read it, we’ll get on a call and talk it through.
Best when you know something isn’t working and need a clear, external view on how you stack up right now.
A brief, often critical research phase, scoped after our first conversation and quoted at a fixed price.
This one goes deeper. I’ll talk to your users to understand what they’re actually trying to do, look at what your data says, and work with you to understand the commercial pressures behind the brief.
You’ll get findings, a prioritised roadmap, and a costed estimate for what comes next.
Best when the obvious fixes haven’t worked, or you’re about to spend real money and can’t afford to guess whether you’re solving the right problem.
Once we have clear direction and an informed plan, you can choose a fixed price project or fractional arrangement.
A research-backed plan, scoped from what we’ve already learnt, so you know what you’re getting and why.
Research, strategy, UX, design, or a combination, depending on what the problem calls for.
Best when you need certainty on budget and we have a fully scoped, confident plan based on an agreed upon strategy.
Ongoing digital experience expertise as part of your team, without the commitment of a full-time hire.
We agree the level of involvement that makes sense for your organisation, and I stay close to the work, helping you prioritise, make decisions and move things forward.
Fractional arrangements suits organisations with a steady stream of digital work that needs experienced digital thinking and leadership, but doesn’t need another full-time person on the payroll.
Best when you need ongoing digital expertise and/or leadership as part of your team for a set period.
And if you don’t want to move to the next level, that’s ok too. ‘Getting started’ options stand on their own, and neither commits you to anything further.
